In 1953, 70 years ago, Porsche redefined the concept of a small-displacement Sports car launching the new 550 on the tracks, first in the Coupé version and then, following the principle of competition-customer, the Spyder version. In this last configuration, this car would contribute to the revolution of sports cars in the 1950s, establishing new standards of dynamic behavior, achieving victories in the main competitions of that time. In Portugal, this model had its clientele, in a proportion that would exceed the normal distribution of these special versions. In 1955, two models arrived, with chassis numbers #550038 and #550039, respectively for the Marquis of Fronteira, D. Fernando de Mascarenhas, and for Joaquim Filipe Nogueira. This work dedicated to the Porsche 550 Spyder in Portugal will be divided into three volumes, the current one being the first in the collection, focusing only on the year 1955. The remaining volumes will soon be released, allowing the history of this car to be told in as much detail as possible in the hands of Portuguese pilots or foreign pilots in national territory.
