In 1947, David Brown purchased Aston Martin. Against his better judgement, Brown was persuaded to enter a modified version of the Atom in the 1948 Spa 24-hour race. Driven by Jock Horsfall and Leslie Johnson it won a famous victory, and Louis Klemantaski was there to record it for posterity.
Eleven years later he was also present when David Brown finally achieved his greatest ambition in racing, by winning the 24-hour race at Le Mans.
Astons then won the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood and became Sportscar World Champions for 1959.
The post-war career of Louis Klemantaski neatly co-incided with that of Brown’s racing Astons, a fact which is magnificently documented in this fine piece of literature.
